Obituary for Carol Faye Matney (Anderson)
Carol Faye Anderson Matney, age 69, of Hurley, Virginia, passed away at the Pikeville Medical Center, in Pikeville, Kentucky, Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Born September 2, 1952, she was the daughter of the late William Estel Anderson and Gladys Trout Anderson. She was a homemaker and a great cook. Carol was a loving wife and mother. She was of Christian Faith and a member of the Church of Christ in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Anderson and John Anderson; eight sisters, Christine Murphy, Irene Hayes, Dorothy Varney, Ruby Parks, Geneva May, Geraldine Anderson, Barbara Sue Anderson, and Virgie Anderson.

Funeral services for Carol Faye Matney will be conducted on Thursday, December 16, 2021, 1:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy, Virginia with Joe Ray Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Matney Cemetery, 1043 Young Pine Road, Hurley, Virginia.
There will be a service for Carol Faye Matney on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, 7:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy, Virginia. Friends may call at 6:00 P.M., prior to the service at 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy, Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Virginia Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
