Obituary for Cletus Mullins

Cletus Mullins, age 76, of Paynesville, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 18, 2021, with his family by his side at the Parham Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Born November 23, 1945, he was the son of the late Ralph Paynter and Frances Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Delmer Mullins; two sisters, Juanita Monteith and Faye Browning.

He was a member of the Raysal Freewill Baptist church where he served as Deacon and was a great help to Pastor Herman Day. He loved to sing and loved reading scriptures while leading church services. He was loved by all his church family and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Virgie Kennedy Mullins of the home; two sons, Orville Mullins of the home; Julian (Jennifer) Mullins of Wytheville, Virginia; one daughter, Regina (Tim) Day of Bluefield, Virginia; two grandsons, Caleb Day and Dorian Delp; two granddaughters, Chasity Jones and Brooke Buchanan; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Juan Mullins of Wytheville, Virginia, and Clyde (Rita) Mullins of Max Meadows, Virginia; sister, Geraldine Keyser of Roanoke, Virginia; sister-in-law, Lorene Mullins of Paynesville, West Virginia. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephew, friends, and a special friend, Herman Day, who he thought of as family.

Funeral services for Cletus Mullins will be conducted on Thursday, December 23, 2021, 1:00 P.M., at the Raysal Freewill Baptist Church, Raysal, West Virginia, with Brother Herman Day officiating.

Burial will follow in the Frances Mullins Family Cemetery on Estep Ridge near his home in Paynesville, West Virginia.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening, December 22, 2021, at the Raysal Freewill Baptist Church from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. A service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Covid guidelines must be followed with required masks and social distancing. A smile and a nod means as much as a hug!
