Obituary for Darrell Mullins

Elder "Little" Darrell Mullins, age 75 of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, Virginia passed away at his home on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Darrell was born on October 23, 1946, in Grundy, Virginia and was the son of the late Marvin and Zelphy (Vanover) Mullins and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a disabled coal miner and a veteran of the Viet Nam war having served in the U.S. Army, A Co. 27th Engineer Bn. from 1966 to 1967. He was an elder of the Bee Branch Primitive Baptist Church, becoming a member in 1976 and ordained in 1977. He was an avid outdoorsman his entire life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy in life was spending time with those he loved and cared for the most, and his greatest wish and prayer was that God's people would come together in love and peace, looking to the Lord our God for guidance and wisdom.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by one infant brother, Tommie Offery Mullins; brother, Otto Marvin Mullins; and one sister, Ima Jean (Mullins) Davis.

Eric Joseph Mullins and wife Misty of Grundy, Va.
Frances Mullins Johnson of Claypool Hill, Va.
Toneshia Renee Mullins of Vansant, Va.
Kenneth Clay Mullins and wife Stephanie of Grundy, Va.
Cora Magdaline Mullins of Grundy, Va.

He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends to cherish his memory.

Per Darrell's wishes, the family will be holding a private service at his home with burial to follow at the Elder Darrell Mullins cemetery, Osborne Branch Road, Grundy, Va.
