David James Lawson, age 64, of Grundy, Virginia passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at his home.

Born October 9, 1957, Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of Dolly Gibson, of Warm Springs, Virginia. He was a coal miner and loved fishing and deer hunting.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Debbie; and one brother, Ronnie Gibson.

Funeral services for David James Lawson will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 12:00 Noon at the Blackey Baptist Church, Hurley, Virginia. Burial will follow at the Lawson Cemetery, 2118, Straight Fork Road, Grundy, Virginia, with Truitt Blankenship officiating.

There will be a service for David James Lawson on Monday evening, December 13, 2021, 7:00 P.M. at the Blackey Baptist Church, Hurley, Virginia, with Eugene Whited officiating. The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Steven Justus, Jr., Steven Justus, Harold Boyd, Waylon Slone, RJ Slone, Timmy Harold Justus, James Adam Smith, and Dustin Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers include: Harold Justus, Burton Ray Blankenship, and Abe Blankenship.
