Obituary for Edmond Vance

Edmond Vance age 86 of Paynesville, West Virginia entered eternal life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born December 2, 1935, at Paynesville, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Daniel Vance and Laura Payne Vance.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William (Billy) Vance; granddaughter, Callie Lou Vance; brothers, James, Edgar (his twin), Herman, Leslie, and Donald Vance.

Edmond was educated in McDowell County Schools, served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was a retired coal miner, being a Flea Market Trader as long as his health allowed. He was a member of the VFW Post #175 Bradshaw, West Virginia and a member of Local Miners Union and Summitt Missionary Baptist Church. Edmond enjoyed bluegrass music, flea marketing, playing Rook, going to church, and spending time with family and friends.

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Edmond Vance will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia with Reverend Gene Addair and Bob Smallwood officiating. Burial will follow in in the Vance Cemetery, Paynesville, West Virginia.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Grandsons.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be those who prepared the gravesite.

The family wishes to thank Amedisys Home Health Care and Veterans Hospital of Beckley, West Virginia for their services during his illness.

Full military rites will be presented by the VFW Post #1144, Iaeger, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Summitt Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 18, Paynesville, West Virginia, 24873.
