Obituary for Edward Lee Wilburn
Edward Lee Wilburn, age 72, of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky, from an extended illness, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 8, 1950, to the late Clarence Wilburn and Mary Willis Wilburn at Ansted, West Virginia. He was a member of the Harman Holiness Church and a retired coal miner, after working 42 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Boggus and Elsie Grimmet; his father-in-law, Jim Smith; and mother-in-law, Edith Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Smith Wilburn; his son, Chris Hubbard and wife Marcie of Grundy, Virginia; his daughter, Angela Surber and husband Randy of Grundy, Virginia; two grandsons, Wyatt Surber of Grundy, Virginia, and Joshua Barrett and wife Mandy of Honaker, Virginia; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Lynn Barrett of Honaker, Virginia, who will be arriving in December.
The funeral service for Edward Lee Wilburn will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022, 12:00 Noon at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Danny Hess and Josh Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 6, 2022, 6:00 P.M., with a service beginning at 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Hubbard, Josh Barrett, Randy Surber, Wyatt Surber, Chester Price, and Ethan Addison.
Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Bowman, men of Harman Holiness Church, Dr. JG Patel, staff of the Buchanan General Hospital, Billy Tibbs, Larry Landaw, Gary Charles, and Chris Addison.
