Obituary for Henry Rowe

Henry Rowe, age 83, of Hurley, Virginia was born on February 5, 1939. He entered his Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

Papaw, as everyone lovingly called him, loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His grandchildren were the “apple of his eye.” He looked forward to family dinners and of course the food was cold by the time he was finished preaching and singing. He was baptized on March 16, 1975, by Dewey Davis and Bobby Belcher. His life was dedicated to serving the Lord and telling everyone he saw about what an awesome God he served. He always said he majored in one book his whole life, King James Bible. He was pastor of the Knox Creek Church of God in Jesus Name for over 40 years. He was available for prayer day or night. He reminded you daily that God answers prayers. He prayed daily with his prayer book handy. Papaw Henry loved to play his guitar and sing for the Lord. His favorite song was “Two Coats.” He prayed his grandson, Brycen, would follow in his footsteps by continuing his ministry with preaching and playing his guitars for the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Alice Blankenship Rowe; his grandparents, Berry and Harriet Rowe and Simon and Eva Blankenship; one son, Jesse Lee Rowe; son-in-law, Donnie Stacy; grandson-in-law, Jeffrey Justus; sisters, Juanita and Chloe Rowe; brothers, Roy, Lawrence, Boyd, and Cloyd Rowe.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Audrey Rowe of Hurley, Virginia; his daughters, Dinah (Jim) Appleton and Donna (Danny) Thompson both of Grundy, Virginia; his sister, Flora Rowe of Hurley, Virginia and brother, Junior Rowe of Bradshaw, West Virginia; his grandchildren, Vanessa Justus of Hurley, Virginia, Jessica Rowe of DeRidder, Louisiana, Christy (Alexandre) Ochoa of Washington DC, Valerie (Anthony) Adams of Grundy, Virginia, Donnie Ray (Jessica) Stacy of Hurley, Virginia; his great-grandchildren, Jared (Cari) Justus, Shasta (Cody) Kinsey, Shane (Katie) Adams, Jayden Justus, Tristan Anderson, Kenneth Adams, Jacob Stacy, Brycen Adams, Jayma Stacy, and Tayleigh Adams; and his great-great-grandchild, Cooper Kinsey. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers in Jesus whom he loved and prayed for daily.
