Hillard Keene, age 70 of Grundy, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home.

Born June 24, 1951, in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was the son of the late George Wallace Keene and Rachel Viars Keene. He was a retired coal miner. Hillard enjoyed his family reunions, his grandbabies, and his weiner dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Lynn Hodge Keene; one brother, Hobert Keene, three sisters, Madeline Mullins, Nellie Daniels, and Della Bledsoe.

Funeral services for Hillard Keene will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, 12:00 Noon at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Dennis Wimmer and Hobert Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Davis Cemetery, Davis Ridge Road, Grundy, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel. A service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
