James Edward Osborne, age 85 of Lesters Fork Road, passed away at his home, Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was a member of the New Zion Freewill Baptist Church at Big Rock, Virginia, and a member of the United Mine Workers Union. Jim was born on May 4, 1938. He loved deer hunting, digging root, picking berries, and chewing tobacco.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Janice Faye Clevinger Osborne; father and mother, Bryant and Rosa Osborne; five sisters, Anita Cordle, Shirley Rife, Mary Sue Smith, Betty Osborne, and Beulah Merricks; and son-in-law, Terry Lee Vandyke.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Deborah Vandyke of Vansant, Virginia; son, James Roger Osborne (Darlene) of Knox Creek, Virginia; four grandchildren, Kellie Hartford (Michael), Kristen Belachew (Aizohbay), Jamie Osborne (Jessica), Jessica Stacy (Donnie); ten great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brent, Tanner, Tyler, Gavin, Nadia, Myiah, Jayma, Jacob, and Draven.

Sevices for Jim Osborne will be held at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 28, 2023, 7:00 P.M. with Mike Rife and Mike Ashby officiating, with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M.
