Obituary for Jerry Randall Coleman

Jerry Randall Coleman Sr., age 73 of Grundy, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the James H. Quillen Medical Center Johnson City, Tennessee, following a lengthy illness.

Born August 11, 1949, in Kentucky, he was the son of the late James H. Coleman and Eva Freeman Coleman. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1967 to 1974 and the National Guard from 1979 to 1987. He was a retired equipment operator for United Coal Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Lester Coleman; brother, Douglas Coleman; and sister, Marilyn Osborne Cole.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jerry Randall Coleman will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Big Rock, Virginia, with Benny Freeman officiating. Entombment will follow.

Friends may call at 12:00 Noon prior to the funeral service at 1:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by John Ratliff Post 164 of the American Legion and Childs-Gentry Post 7360 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
