Obituary for Jerry Lee Looney
Jerry Lee Looney, age 72 of Grundy, Virginia passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at his home.
Born August 8, 1950, in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late Meredith Looney and Opal Dale Looney. He was a retired railroad engineer having worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
Jerry loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He was of the Christian Faith. He enjoyed watching football, the Green Bay Packers, going to the lake, and fishing. He coached Girl’s Little League Basketball and Boy’s Little League Football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ava Blackburn and Betty Ratliff; and one brother, Willard Looney.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his special dogs.
Jerry was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, his body will be cremated and a private memorial service with family and a few friends, will be held Friday evening, September 30, 2022, 6:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Mike Rife officiating.
