Jessie Woodrow Newberry, age 85 of Grundy, Virginia passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at his home.

Born June 10, 1937, at Raven, Virginia, he was the son of the late Sherman Newberry and Alta Cantrell Newberry. Jessie was a retired certified diesel mechanic and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ruth Clevenger Newberry; sons, Mike Newberry and Henry Dobson; brothers, Bill and Jim Newberry; sister, Dorothy May; daughter, Cassandra Ferrell.

Funeral services for Jessie Newberry will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Evangelist Dennis Wimmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home. A service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

A military graveside service will be held at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park by the American Legion Post 164 and the VFW Post 7360.
