Obituary for Jimmy Duane "Jimbo" McClanahan

Jimmy Duane “Jimbo” McClanahan, age 56 of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, Virginia gained his angel wings on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.

Born August 31, 1965, in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late James “Buck” McClanahan and Wanda Boyd McClanahan. Jimbo was owner and operator of McClanahan Trucking for 36 years, having hauled numerous loads of coal and logs. Over the years he owned many trucks, but he was a diehard “MACK” man. He spent countless
hours at his garage, never complaining about the hard work it took to be a trucker. Jimbo loved what he did. He was the biggest fan of westerns on television with Gunsmoke being his favorite. He watched them daily and loved to watch Marshall Dillon draw his gun. He was one of a kind, with a sense of humor like no one else, never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a hand. He was a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend to all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Node McClanahan; and maternal grandparents, Calvin and Bertha Boyd and Dora Boyd Cesarini.
