Obituary for Keela Joy Bennett Hess

Keela Joy Bennett Hess, age 70 of Grundy, Virginia, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, Virginia.

Born December 17, 1951, she was the daughter of the late H C Bennett and Julia Sapp Bennett. She was a member of the Grundy Baptist Church in Grundy, Virginia. She received a master’s degree in Art Education from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. She was a loving wife and teacher, a gifted artist and educator, owner and operator of Keela’s Klassic Framing and Gifts in Grundy, Virginia, and an art teacher for the Buchanan County School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H C Bennett and Julia Sapp Bennett.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Keela Joy Bennett Hess will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, 12:00 P.M. at the Grundy Baptist Church, Grundy, Virginia, with Doctor Shea Shrader, Danny Ray Hess, and David Peters officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, May 9, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. at the Grundy Baptist Church, Grundy, Virginia, where a service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Active pallbearers include: Gregory Belcher, Sam Hess, Terry Hess, Willard Hess, Brian McCoy, Jim Snead, Joey Snead, and Mike Stiltner.

Honorary pallbearers include: Jim Childress, Bob Cole, Gary Craft, Curtis Crouse, Tim Hess, Roger Lester, Curtis Osborne, Pat Stiltner, Randy Vandyke, and Charlie Woods.

Donations may be made to the Grundy Baptist Church, Grundy Virginia, or to the American Cancer Society in the honor of Keela Joy Bennett Hess.
