Lonnie Ray Perkins, age 64 of Vansant, Virginia went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
Born July 21, 1957, at Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late Emory Perkins and Alta Shortridge Perkins.
Lonnie was saved, born again, in the summer of 1979. He devoted his life to Jesus and his family. Lonnie was a loving husband and dad. He was an avid musician, songwriter, fisherman, wood carver, carpenter, and mechanic.
He was a very talented man. Lonnie was a self-employed truck driver through much of his career. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, loved his home and the people in his community. He was a member and deacon of Big Fox Community Church. He was also a Sunday School Teacher for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Emory Perkins, Jr. and father-in-law, Hassel Coleman.

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Lonnie Ray Perkins will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, 1:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel with Lester Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the WA Boyd Cemetery, Big Fox Creek, Vansant, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home. A service will be held at 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Coleman, Stephen Hartford, Kyle Hartford, Nathan Stiltner, Mason Deskins, Richard Yates, Thomas Pender, Bill Cook. and Mack Hurley.
Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
