Obery Kent “Sweeney” Estep, age 63 of Hurley, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his home.

Born August 15, 1958, in Hurley, Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Estep and Juanita Hensley Estep. He was a retired heavy equipment strip mine operator.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Danny Ashby and Carter Burks.

He is also survived by a special friend, Pete Wallace.

Funeral services for Obery Kent “Sweeney” Estep will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021, 1:00 PM at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 6 :00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home, where a song service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
