Obituary for Ola Mae Lambert

Ola Mae Lambert, age 81, of Grundy, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord Jesus, on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Russell County Hospital, Lebanon, Virginia, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Born September 5, 1941, in Big Rock Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Kenis Elswick and Jane Stiltner Elswick. She was a member of the Vansant Baptist Church, Vansant, Virginia, where she faithfully attended, until her health failed to the point she was no longer able to attend. She loved her ladies Sunday School class and missed it most of all.

In addition to her parents, Ola was preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude Lambert; brothers, Bill Elswick and Frank Elswick; and sister, Shirley Deel.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Claude (Angie) Lambert Jr., of Bluff City, Tennessee; two daughters, Debbie (Freeman) Justus of Hurley, Virginia, and Tiffany (Rich) Mullins of Blountville, Tennessee; grandsons, Christopher (Samantha) Justus of Morgantown, West Virginia, Clay Lambert of Bluff City, Tennessee, and Connor Lambert of Cumberland, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Carrera Mullins of Blountville, Tennessee; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Keene of Martinsferry, Ohio; two great- grandsons Gabe Graley of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Ryan Hicks of Coalwood, West Virginia; one brother, Jessie (Marie) Elswick of Abingdon, Virginia; sisters, Ruby Potter of Belfast, Virginia, Carol Mullins of Church Road, Virginia, Mary Ward of Abingdon, Virginia, Sandra (Vern) Deel of Vansant, Virginia, Genny Johnson of Grundy, Virginia, and Velma Trembly of Grundy, Virginia; stepchildren, Mike Lambert of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, Claude Kol of Charleston, West Virginia, and Jenny Clay of Marietta, Georgia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ola Mae Lambert will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 1:00 P.M., at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Jody Breeding officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.

The family will receive friends at the Virginia Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, 6:00 P.M., where a service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be Claude Lambert Jr., Christopher Justus, Freeman Justus, Jessie Don Elswick, Henry Shortridge, Rich Mullins, and Jessie Cline.

Special thanks to her neighbors, Jeanie Blankenship and Leda Dickey for their many acts of kindness throughout many years; thankful for her special friends, Jessie and Carolyn Cline; and her caregiver, Margaret Stiltner for their deeds of kindness and care; and Jenny Johnson and Henry Shortridge for their support and help throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Women’s Sunday School Class at Vansant Baptist Church, Vansant, Virginia.
