Obituary for Peggy Smith
Our Mother and loving wife Peggy Smith, age 65 of Grundy, Virginia received her heavenly Wings Saturday, January 29, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 11, 1956, at Richlands, Virginia, she was the daughter of Cora Lester McCoy of Big Rock, Virginia and the late Charlie McCoy. She was a life-long resident of Buchanan County, and was of the Baptist faith. Peggy was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two infant granddaughters, Kadence Smith, Cynthia Smith; sister, Louise Rice; one brother-in-law, Jerry Rice; and mother-in-law, Lucy Smith.

Funeral services for Peggy Smith will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at the Victory Baptist Church, Vansant, Virginia with Dale Blankenship and Eugene Whited officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.
The family will receive friends both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Church. A song service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. and a service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles (Bub) McCoy, Bobby Joe Smith, Rusty Sykes, Brian Cox, Johnny McCoy, Shannon Sykes, Tayten Skyes, and Rusty (Lil Rusty) Sykes.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Smith, Mike Belcher, David Smith, Jr., Andy Webb, Cole Street, Tyler Houck, Jerry Ray Rice, Howard Smith, Chris Oquin, Travis Dotson, Chuck McCoy, Jacob McCoy, Jordan McCoy, and Tyler Berglowe.
