Obituary for Randall Lester
Randall Lester, age 65 of Big Rock, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee.
Born July 25, 1956, in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of late William “Bud” and Josephine Rose Lester. He was a lifetime resident of Big Rock, Virginia. He was a retired coal miner and loved riding horses. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and great-uncle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Lester, Billford “Huggie” Lester; niece, Della Stacy; nephew, Leonard “Booboo” Dales Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his ex-wife Mary Lester of Avondale, West Virginia; daughters, Rhonda Slone and fiancée Mark of Big rock, Virginia; Charlotte and Danny Charles of Hurley, Virginia; Aranda and Shannon Griffey of Grundy, Virginia; Kayla Lester and fiancée Austin of Big Rock, Virginia; his grandchildren, Randall Slone (Meagon), Shonda Matney (Hobie), Alonda Kennedy (Cody), Zoey Slone, Crandall Hackney, Amber Skeens, Tyler Griffey, Kaitlyn Griffey;
great-grandchildren, Kolton Jackson”Biggen”, Rylan Jackson “Little One”, Cannon Matney, Ryder Matney, Izzy Matney, Caroline Slone, Maddison Kennedy; sisters, Donna Dales, Ginger Stacy, Angeline Stacy; and brother, Jody Lester. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service for Randall Lester on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy, Virginia, with Mike Jackson and Edgar Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Lester Family Cemetery at Watts Branch Road, Big Rock, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 15, 2021, 6:00 P.M., at the Virginia Funeral Home, Grundy, Virginia, where a service will be held at 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
