Obituary for Reynic Caudill Compton

Alice Kelly Reynic Caudill Compton, Grundy, VA, was born on January 12, 1971 at the old Grundy Hospital in Grundy, VA. She departed this life on August 30, 2022 in Lexington, KY.

Reynic married her soulmate and best friend Jack Compton on April 7, 1996, Easter. Together they raised two beloved daughters, Jacqueline Caudill “JC” Compton of Radford, VA and Alexandria Cory McClure “Ali” Compton of Grundy VA.

She graduated from Grundy Senior High School in 1988 and earned a bachelor's degree from Radford University and master’s degree from East Tennessee State University in speech language pathology. Reynic spent the next 30 years helping children in Lee County, VA, McDowell County, WV, and then Buchanan County, VA school systems find their voices through speech therapy. She was passionate about her work and the opportunity to support, encourage, and advocate for children, especially children with special needs. She knew that she was often the only smile a child may see in a day and she embraced that role lovingly.

Reynic had her priorities straight, she had a successful career, but valued and deeply loved her family most of all. She loved spending time with her family, especially traveling to Disney, Cincinnati Reds games, concerts, National Parks, and the beach. She was an avid reader, dog lover, and enjoyed watching the sunset over Southern Gap. She was fun, kind, wise, beautiful, and always had a good word for others. Reynic loved the Lord and was a member of Vansant Church of Christ.

In addition to Jack, J.C., and Ali, Reynic is survived by her parents W.J. and Susan Caudill of Grundy, VA, her sister and brother-in-law Whitney and Chris Bandemer of Fort Wayne, IN, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathy and Jim Kade of Spartanburg, SC, nephews Geoffrey Kade of Kingsport, TN, and Zach Kade of Spartanburg, SC, and her niece Alice M. Bandemer of Fort Wayne, IN.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Jim and Carolyn Caudill, maternal grandparents Alice McClure Tate and Holsie Tate, special Great Uncle Jim McClure, in-laws Maynard and Christine Compton, Aunt Omalee Hawkins, Uncle Fred Caudill, and her precious dog Biscuit.
