Obituary for Rhonda Aleta Justice Lester

Rhonda Aleta Lester, age 71 of Hurley, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Carilion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia.

Born February 5, 1952, in Morton, Washington, she was the daughter of the late Lois Justice and Jean Marrs Justice.

Rhonda was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County. She was a loving wife, mother, and nana. She enjoyed reading, traveling, working with her roses, and spending time with her family and fur-babies. She was the franchise owner of H & R Block for forty-eight years. She was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. Her clients would always bring her Earnhardt memorabilia. She was a member of the Jackson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Paw Paw, Virginia. She was baptized with her daughter Kari, and was so happy they were able to do that together. Everyone who knew her, loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald and Terry Justice; special nieces, Debra Michelle Thompson Edwards and Cheryl Denise Justus Thornsbury; and great-nephew, Jordan Edison Thornsbury.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Theodore “Ted” Lester of Hurley, Virginia; daughter, Kari Cline and husband Justin of Hurley, Virgina; stepsons, Shannon Lester and wife Kristie of Gloucester, Virginia; Ryan Lester and wife Jenny of Hurley, Virginia; three step-granddaughters, Kathryn, Delayna, and Hannah Lester; bonus son, Jeff and Lindsay Starnes; bonus grandchildren, Madison, Rachel, Ryleigh, Evan, Easton, Cason, and Jameson; sister, Robin Hurley and husband Terry of Hurley, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Dakota Smith, Alexis Hurley, Zackary Hurley, Tracy Justice, Natacha Justus, Rashell Charles, Alysia Justice, Caleb Justice, Melanie Russell, and McKenzie Thornsbury; special cousins, Debi Compton, Kathy Justice, Vonda Marrs, and Judy Hatfield; sisters-in-law, Sally Justus of Abingdon, Virginia; Mary Lou Lester Thompson and husband Blane of Abingdon, Virginia, and Bertha Justus of Hurley, Virginia; furry companions, Minnie and Furry; grand-companions, Milo and Mia. She was also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

In Accordance with Rhonda’s wishes her body will be cremated. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, January 14, 2024, 3:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel Grundy, Virginia, with Mike Jackson and Kenny Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:00 P.M.
