Obituary for Richard Honaker
Richard Honaker, age 80 of Grundy, Virginia passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Grundy, Virginia.
Born March 27, 1941, at Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late Walter Honaker and Victoria Davis Honaker. He was retired from the railroad after 34 years.
Richard enjoyed hunting, cutting weeds, riding four wheelers and going on excursions. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lurena Muncy Honaker; two brothers, Eddie and E C Honaker; two sisters, Berchie Marie Street and Rita Faye Honaker; one niece, Mary Ann Honaker; and special friend and cousin, Leon Davis.

He is also survived by his very special fur baby, Sophia, Pawpaw’s girl.
Funeral services for Richard Honaker will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia with Dennis Wimmer and Kenneth Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Davis Cemetery, Davis Ridge Road, Grundy, Virginia.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the Virginia Funeral Home. A service will be held at 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Keen, Blake Brown, “Lil” Walter Honaker, Dwayne Looney, Steven Honaker, “Lil” Freddie Honaker, family and friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J G Patel, Nurses at Buchanan General Hospital, staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Ira Allen, Chuck Allen, Mack Keen, and special cousin, Norma Faye Mullins.
