Obituary for Rocky Irlan Hensley
Rocky Irlan Hensley, age 53 of Hurley, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Virginia.
Born May 20, 1968, in Grundy, Virginia, Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Bob Hensley and Irene Tester Hensley. He was self-employed at the Hensley Body Shop. He enjoyed deer hunting, arts and crafts. Rocky had a very artistic ability and working with his hands, which is shown in his beautiful auto body work, where he was previously self-employed. He also had worked at Roger Daniel’s Garage and Rife’s Chevrolet. He was a very talented artist, having made many awesome drawings and miniature craft woodworks. He had a true talent for making motorcycles and cabins out of ice cream sticks. He was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, son, and papaw. Rocky was a very much people person. He would give you the shirt off his back. He has taken in a many of people down on their luck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Matthew; maternal grandparents, Irlan and Callie tester; paternal grandparents, Betty and Hobert Hensley; sister-in-law, Sherry Shrader.

Funeral services for Rocky Irlan Hensley will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, 11:00 A.M., at the Blackey Baptist Church, Hurley, Virginia, with Eugene Whited, Danny Hess, and Rudolf Sesco officiating. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery, Hover Camp Road, Hurley, Virginia.
There will be a service both Wednesday evening, January 19, 2022, and Thursday evening, January 20, 2022, at the Blackey Baptist Church, Hurley, Virginia at 7:00 P.M. The family will receive friends both evenings at 6:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tony and Shane Shrader, Ricky Stacy, Rodney Potter, Dennis Estep, Rex Allen, Teddy Hensley, and Chris Justus.
Serving as honorary pallbearers include ICU doctors and nurses at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Dr. Jawad, Dr. Thacker and staff, Bobby in the Radiology Department, William Looney in the Ultrasound Department, and Steve Cline.
