Obituary for Russell Brian Vance
Russell Brian Vance, 59, of Jolo, WV, departed this life on Sunday, July 10, 2022. He was born in Welch, WV, September 13, 1962, the son of Ruby (Cantrell) Vance of Paynesville, WV and the late Edmond Vance who passed away January 26, 2022. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by daughter Callie Vance in 1989, brother William (Billy) Vance 1985, and grandparents; Clinton (Shorty) & Matilda Cantrell, and Daniel & Laura (Payne) Vance.
Russell attended McDowell County Public Schools graduating from Iaeger High Class of 1980. He worked in and around coal mines and did contractor and carpentry work thoughout his life. He was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, loved wookworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Survivors along with his mother include; wife Ava Elaine (Branscome) Vance of the home, One daughter; Scarlett Vance (Daniel Lowe) of Bristol, TN, one son; Dakota (Andrea) Vance of Des Moines, Iowa. Two stepdaughters; Cristie Kennedy of Jolo, WV and Shiana (Dylan) Smith of Lebanon, VA. Grandsons; Macon, Rory, Riley Vance & Drayden Smith. Two brothers; Eugene (Brenda) Vance of Paynesville, WV and Quintin Dale (Margaret) Vance of Bluefield, VA. Two sisters; Janice (Joe) Lester of Paynesville, WV and Janet VanAuken & Tracy Bradley of Syracuse, NY. Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many friends..
Funeral services for Russell Brian Vance will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Slate Creek Road, Grundy, VA with Rev. Gene Addair and Bob Smallwood officiating.
Burial will follow in the Vance Cemetery, Paynesville, West Virginia.
A visitation with family will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, where a service will begin at 7:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be family and friends including special friends; Jim Crabtree and Malcolm Vance.
