Obituary for Shelby Jean Compton
Shelby Jean Griffith Compton, age 83, of Grundy, Virginia, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Nova Health Care and Rehab, Weber City, Virginia.
Born February 1, 1939, at Phelps, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Frank Griffith and Eunice Fletcher Griffith. She was a retired bookkeeper and accountant.
Shelby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to her husband William Blake Compton for 63 years and 11 months.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lola Griffith Layne, Sophia Griffith Smith, and Pinie Griffith Yates; four brothers, Ertle Griffith, Arlin Griffith, Corbet Griffith, and Elmo Griffith.

In accordance with Shelby’s wishes, her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia.
