Obituary for Ulvert Farley Prater

Ulvert Farley Prater, age 77 of Hurley, Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at his home.

Born May 9, 1944, at Hurley, Virginia, he was the son of the late Winfred Prater and Lurlie Gilliam Prater. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired professional meat cutter. He loved God, his family, and his country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Lillian, Buford, Edward, Dempsey, Richard, Phyllis, Johnny, Buddy, and Clinton.

A graveside service for Ulvert Prater will be held on Tuesday, August 10, at 1:00 P.M. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, located at Mountain Home within Johnson City, Tennessee, in Washington County Tennessee. Anyone who would like to join the funeral procession, please be at Virginia Funeral Home by 10:00 AM.

The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia. A service will be held at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Darrell Davis officiating.
