Obituary for Velva Marie Charles
Velva Marie Charles, age 84 of Grundy, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, Virginia.
Born January 23, 1938, in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Nathan Baldwin and Leah Vernie Boyd Baldwin. Velva was a member of the Grundy Bible Church at Grundy, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Gary, Bradley, Samuel, Roger, and Mitchell; one sister, Laura Baldwin Manier.

Services for Velva Marie Charles will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia with Don Ashby and Greg Ramey officiating.The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A song service will be held from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Anderson Cemetery, Leemaster Road, Vansant, Virginia, with Josh Bowman officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to thank Judy Street and Mary Ann Collins and the staff of the Family Care Center for their care of Velva Marie.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Velva’s memory to the Grundy Bible Church, Handicapped Parking Lot Fund, P.O. Box 828, Grundy, Virginia, 24614.
