Obituary for William "Willie" Dewey Stacy

William “Willie” Dewey Stacy, age 66, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Willie was born on May 15, 1957, in Richlands, Virginia, to the parents of Leona “Polly” Justus Stacy and the late Virgil Stacy. He was a devoted Christian and family man, and he attended Freedom Ministries in Claypool Hill, Virginia. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan and spent forty-six years on the strip job as a heavy diesel mechanic. Willie’s interests included, model building, reading, train shows, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his father, Virgil Stacy, he was preceded in death by one niece, Cynthia Rose Stacy.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of forty-five years, Sharon Stacy of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; two daughters, Betsy Chandler and husband George of Westminster, South Carolina, and Suzanna Stacy of Gray, Tennessee; two sons, Isaac Stacy and wife Makayla of Bristol, Virginia, and Taylor Stacy and wife Bella of Oakwood, Virginia; mother, Polly Justus Stacy of Grundy, Virginia; three granddaughters, Alexis Justice and husband Dalton, Arya Stacy, and Hazel Stacy; one grandson, Elijah Stacy; one great-granddaughter, Drew Justice; one great-grandson, Reagan Justice; two brothers, Curtis Stacy and wife Betty of Farmville, Virginia, and Donald Stacy and wife Rosemary of Grundy, Virginia; two sisters, Becky England and husband Mark of Grundy, Virginia, and Beth Stacy and husband Nathan of Richlands, Virginia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Burton Hurley and wife Betty of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; sister-in-law, Pam Case and husband Mark of Lebanon, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, Brad Hurley and wife Rhonda of Lebanon, Virginia, RB Hurley and wife Elaine of Abingdon, Virginia, and Rusty Hurley and wife Vanessa of Grundy, Virginia; special grandchildren, Russell, Chase, Taylor, Scarlett, Kendall Claire, Adeline Ashlyn, Pruitt, and Faelynn Chandler, Annabel and Evie Prater, and Ellie Yates; two special nieces, Cassidy Case and Andrea Branham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, and a host of friends.

There will be a visitation and song service for William Dewey Stacy on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, 7:00 P.M. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia. The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, April 4, 2024, 12:00 Noon at the Virginia Funeral Home, Grundy, Virginia, with Mickey Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dalton Justice, Lance Branham, Pruitt Chandler, Jason Smith, Gabe Hunsaker, Matthew Hurley, James Hurley, and Jonathan Hurley.
