Geneva Blankenship, age 85 of Hurley , Virginia passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, Virginia.

Born January 31, 1934, in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Joda Blankenship and Cynthia Bailey Blankenship. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bee Branch Old Regular Baptist Church. She was baptized in October 1996. Geneva was employed by the Green Thumb Program and Experience Works at Hurley Community Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Blankenship, Sr. of 22 years. They were married August 9, 1952. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Homer Blankenship, Jr. and Paul Ray Blankenship; two brothers, Cloyd Blankenship and Lafayette Blankenship; two sisters, Pauline Blankenship and Violet Presley. Geneva was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services for Geneva Blankenship will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019, 1:00 P.M. at the Bee Branch Old Regular Baptist Church, Slate Creek Road, Grundy, Virginia, with Elders of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Harlan Blankenship Cemetery, Coon Branch Road at Wolford, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 19, 2019, 6:00 P.M. at the church, where a service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Serving as Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be C-Wing Nursing Staff of Heritage Hall, Grundy, Virginia.
